It has been a wonderful night. Lots of relaxing is going on, even though not much of my painting was worked on. Yet I have come back to one of my first loves which has been long left out in the cold by other projects : sketching. I wish I had some to show you tonight, but I didn't take any pictures, instead I have my painting that I worked on this past week and completely changed around (not surprisingly lol) . So, here are some pictures of it.

Starting Fresh
Well, I am officially the worst blogger right now. How long has it been since i wrote a post? like a month? oh well, I am starting again. Since the last time i wrote, a lot has happened in my life, but not so much in my art. I finished the one of Jonathan and Whitney, and started one life-size painting of my boyfriend. Yet it unexpectedly took a turn for the worst last week when I destroyed his face out of frustration of not getting the right skin tone down on the canvas. Needless to say, I gave up on the endeavor when my professor wrote a note on my easel about things I needed to change, so I decided to go in a new direction. Today, I painted over the ruined boyfriend picture with one of my friend Larisa, and it is already turning out 250% better than the last. Now I'm just working on a color scheme (which is not quite finished) that was inspired 2 weekends ago at a friend's in Missouri. So finally, I'm pretty excited about it and don't actually want to work on an essay due friday, but paint. So instead this blog is becoming my procrastination. Thank you blogspot.

Back to Painting
Well, this weekend was incredibly busy again, and so no artwork had been done till today. It was nice getting back to it since I am very far behind in all my projects. So, I finally worked on Jonathan's face in the painting today and I am pretty content with where its going. Still needs a little work though. Hopefully Ill be almost done so I can start working on the next project: life-size full body portrait of someone (not that all of mine aren't that already :))

Baking at One
Well, as you can tell I am wide awake at one in the morning because, like a professional idiot, I drank coffee way too late. Hence, another post. I'm just waiting for my banana bread to bake, since i had nothing better to do with my time, and so I sit here, eagerly awaiting a slice of deliciousness. (I have actually been waiting all week for my bananas to get ripe enough to bake.)
I got a little more painting done today, and thankfully got all of my graphic design project done, so that I could work on what I really wanted to do. Tonight I started on getting just a little more detail and accuracy in these figures, so that they don't turn out looking so expressive that they lose touch with reality (god forbid that happens!)
So, the detail-oriented side of me was extremely satisfied this evening, and I was able to really enjoy just sitting up in my "cubicle/cubby", all by myself, listening to music and doing what I love most in life. To tell you the truth, this semester has really been the first that I don't feel like painting is almost like another thing I have to do, but something I really want to do to unwind at the end of the day.. plus I get to do it for credit!
And here is another picture of my painting coming along. I finally started on Jonathan's face, although it is far from being complete as you can tell.

Two in One Day
I definitely know that this won't last long, but I will use my time as an advantage to write (or really just put up pictures). I didn't do anymore on my painting tonight because I had so much graphic design work to do, but when I got too stressed to do anything else on illustrator, I decided to relax by throwing on the wheel! I am just taking ceramics this semester, and we are only making pots by hand, but I have been using the wheel outside of class because it is just too darn fun to not. So, my creations for this evening:
Hard at Work
So, for the first time I am actually getting some work done on this painting, and I have some pictures to prove it. The last time I touched the painting was early last week, so I was extremely excited to pick it up again, until I realized I have a problem with being loose with my brushstrokes. I tend to get bogged down with detail, that my paintings start to lose expression, so I am trying hard not to do that this time. Other than that, this blue is being a real big pain in my butt, cause it's definitely not the right color that I want, but I will make it work.
On the lighter side, I love how vivid these colors are going to be. Hopefully, I will have to time to go over them with several layers of opaque color, so that they are literally straight from the tube.
I guess that's it.
